Parga is a seaside town of Epirus. Its broader mountain crest was a natural barrier, which protected it from invasions. The people of Parga always retained their national identity, their general cultural elements, whereas their main characteristic was their passion for freedom and democracy

The people of Parga were clear- sighted enough to choose the best allied for protection: Venetians, (five centuries), French (Napoleon Vonapart)»Russians and British, who sold it to the Turkish in 1820. Then, the people of Parga ,since they could not live as slaves, they proved once again their passion for freedom. They unburied the bones of their anscestors and immigrated to Corfu, Paxos, Psara and other island participating in the War of Independence in 1821. Parga was finally released in 1913.
